The Department has indicated that the "Schedule of items" Line Number 0100 is for Bedding Material # 57 Stone and Line Number 0620 is for Geotextile Drainage Fabric however, the bid quantities that are represented in these items do not include the # 57 stone and Geotextile paper that will be needed for the Underground SWM 9-4. Is the department stating that the 57 stone and the geotextile paper will be paid under these items with an over run of quantities or will the department adjust thequanties to include the stone and geo paper for the Underground SWM 9-4?

For the underground detention facility (SWM 9-4), the gravel backfill material and the geotextile cloth shall be included in the price for the related pipe.

If the existing power service is not adequate to handle the new requirements for lighting, who is responsible for the cost of the power company to upgrade?

The cost for the new secondary conductor and CT service will be provided by Dominion Virginia power at no cost to the contractor. Any costs associated with service relocation, service upgrade or upgrade to primary lines associated with VDOT services will be VDOT cost.

Will VDOT also specify what service they want and add a pay item? SE-9? There is no pay item for the service, only the control center and according to the road and bridge specs. They are two seperate paid items.

A new Electrical Service will be requested by VDOT to Virginia Dominion Power. Contractor shall provide new Control Center and coordinate with Dominion Virginia Power for proper connections.

Plan sheet 11(9D) indicates “205 LF 60” PIPE WATERTITE JOINTS (TYP.). The joints are watertight, the pipe should be solid rather than perforated. In the “Schedule of Items” Line Number 0100 is for BEDDING MATL. AGGR. NO. 57 STONE and Line Number 0620 is for GEOTEXTILE DRAINAGE FABRIC.

The lighting plans call for a new control center CCW1 type D but makes no mention of the actual service. The existing service appears to be 120/240v and all the new lighting is 3 phase 277/480V. Will there be a new service as well. please advise

There is no Service type shown nor is there a pay item for "electrical service" Will the service be incedental to the Control Center " CCW1" or will VDOT be specifying the type of service they will want? For bidding purposes we request VDOT clarify this because the Control center and electrical service typiclly are separate pay items

The panel schedule calls for a 100 AMPS, 277/480 AMPS main breaker. The factors include overall load and load side conductor specifications. The contractor electrician would need to provide Dominion Virginia Power a load letter so they can determine if the load will be adequate or exceed the existing transformers capacity. The contractor needs to take in consideration his electrician’s cost for conduit, CT’s/CT cabinet and remote meter installation.

Typically VDOT arranges for and pays for new power drops. The Contractor normally installs the service panel and the Power Company brings the service to the panel. This is usually done by VDOT. Regardless of the note #12, who is paying for the cost of the service?

Per VTM 108, all accessible outlet locations up to a minimum of 10% of longitudinal pipe shall be inspected. Where an outlet location is inaccessible with video camera, visual inspection will be permitted. The inspection will be incidental to the cost of the underdrain pipe.
