The bid item shall be used to protect the cattle guard on Parcel 004 during abutment excavation. If the Contractor's means and methods allow for work to proceed without the temporary shoring and do not violate excavation safety, it will be handled in accordance with the contract documents during construction.

Given the extreme weather event in the forecast across the state this weekend and extending into next week, many contractors will be involved in snow removal activities across the state. Due to allowable tolerances in the camber of the precast beams and the build-up from 2 layers of Kevlar on the beam joints, the epoxy overlay on the deck surface will not be uniform. Is it the Departments intention for the deck not to receive an asphalt overlay and for the epoxy waterproofing to be the final riding surface of the bridge?
