Does VDOT Plan to have the overhead utility lines insulated during the demolition and construction of the proposed new bridge?

The overhead lines will not be insulated. The contractor must provide Dominion Transmission with at least 5 days’ notice before working near the lines and is fully responsible for implementing all necessary safety measures and obtaining the required insurance coverage.

Please advise if Bid Item 180: LIME is utilized for seeding or for stabilizing roadbed material? It is listed under the Roadside Development Summary on Sheet 2K but the Item ID refers to lime stabilization for roadway construction. If the lime is utilized for stabilizing roadbed material, please identify on the plans where the lime is to be placed.

Items 450 and 460 are covered under VDOT Road and Bridge Specification Section 413, and item 520 is covered under Section 430. No special provisions apply to these items, as the standard specifications are sufficient. Please refer to the current VDOT R&B Specification Book for full details. Payment for line item 450, “Dismantle and remove existing structure”, will be made at the contract lump sum price, as stated in Section 413 of the VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications. The applicable bridge structure is Structure No. 1016.
