Page 280: "Concrete for Joint replacement shall be Low Shrinkage Class A4 Mod Concrete." What is the cure time and cure process for Low Shrinkage Class A4 Modified Concrete? Is there enough time for concrete to cure within lane closure hours to give back traffic without lane closure penalty? 412.02(B) Per Spec, contractor needs to obtain 2500 psi to give back traffic. Would the department entertain Rapid Set A4?

The bidder shall reference RB Spec 412. Line items 412SD20-0034, 412SD20-0046, and 412SD20-0042 are high early strength mixtures.  
 
Subject: Recoating Existing Tooth Joint Type: Specifications

Please provide inspection report for tooth dam. Please provide as-builts for tooth dam. 411.05 (C) This spec lists many methods. Method 1, Method 4, Method 5, Method 7. Please clarify the Departments expectations.

As-built is now available. Bridge Inspection reports are classified as Critical Infrastructure (CII) and cannot be posted. The Contractor shall provide an Environmental Protection and Health and Safety plan. The Contractor shall follow RB Spec. 411.05 (c).3.

Based on this answer regarding the method, and if it does need to be blasted, is the contractor required to collect and contain the media? Is a full containment system required to be installed or will the department allow hand tools out of a snooper?

Page 238 "Steel Plate Bridging will be required to maintain joint openings and must be approved by the engineer. Steel plate bridging is incidental...." Can the department provide a detail of the steel plate that is approved by VDOT?

Steel plate bridging is intended to protect the deck joint construction areas from traffic as stated in the “Adhesive Base Joint Sealer” and “Elastomeric Expansion Dam” section of the No Plan Assembly Repair Notes. VDOT does not have pre-approved standards for this item. A Steel plate bridging submittal, to include plans and calculations, shall be prepared by the Contractor for review and ap-proval by the Engineer. Steel plate bridging plan shall comply with the requirements of the 2020 VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications Section 412.03(a) and the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual Sections, 6F.54 6G.15.
