Will staking of the MB-11A be required?

The MB-11A will be required to be pinned/staked to the pavement as there will be opposing traffic on either side of the Median Barrier.  
 
Subject: Bridge Deck Concrete Type: Plan

Bridge deck concrete is listed as LIGHTWEIGHT low shrinkage A4. The spec only provides lightweight aggregate information. Can a spec be provided for the lightweight low shrinkage A4? Concrete suppliers in the area have never produced this mix before or have a mix design. Is this lightweight low shrinkage concrete correct on the bid form?

As noted on Sheet 1 of the bridge plans, concrete in superstructure and rails shall be Low Shrinkage Class A4 Modified Lightweight in accordance with Section 217.12(b) and shall have a maximum density of 110 pcf. Please refer to Supplemental Specification SS217-002020-01 for additional information regarding this mix. The Department will work with the Contractor and VDOT approved concrete supplier to obtain an approved mix design for this project.

Please clarify the method of payment for removal of temporary pipe, drainage structures and earthwork in the temporary median cross-overs.

All costs for removal of temporary pipes, drainage structures and earthwork in the temporary median cross-overs shall be included in the price bid for other items in accordance with Section 105.14(b)9 of the 2020 VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications as noted below.

What is Bid Item 0720 BRIDGE INCIDENTALS REMOVE BIRD NETTING ON EXIST. STR. (VA STR. NO.1045)? We have been to the site and do not see where this item is applicable.

Bird netting is currently being installed on the existing structure, and the Department anticipates it to be completed by the end of January 2022. The bid item in question is related to the removal of the bird netting prior to demolition. Please review SPCN Remove Bird Netting on Existing Structure within the contract for further information.
