Final Bridge Deck Riding Surface
Type:
Plan
Question
Date:
1/14/2026 4:46:35 PM
Due to allowable tolerances in the camber of the precast beams and the build-up from 2 layers of Kevlar on the beam joints, the epoxy overlay on the deck surface will not be uniform. Is it the Departments intention for the deck not to receive an asphalt overlay and for the epoxy waterproofing to be the final riding surface of the bridge?
Answer
Date:
1/21/2026 8:19:34 AM
See sheet 9 of the bridge plans for recommended sequencing and details. Build-ups due to the Kevlar are avoided by completing steps 3, 4, and 5 in the order prescribed.
