The current sequence of construction on both Route 24 and Route 122 call for 0"-2" milling prior to the BM patching. This implies that traffic will travel on the open milled surface during the time it takes the contractor to complete all of the 0"-2" milling and the patching. If following the prescribed sequence of construction, given the quantities on these routes, traffic will likely be traveling on the milled surface for longer than is standard practice. What duration of time is acceptable to VDOT for traffic to travel on the milled surface while 0"-2" milling and patching are being completed? Would VDOT consider changing the sequence of construction to do the BM patching prior to the 0"-2" milling?

The contractor shall refer to sections 315 and 515 in the specifications to determine the specified duration the traffic is allowed to drive on milled surface. The contractor shall plan the paving operation according to the construction sequence proposed in the contract such that the specified duration for traffic driving on the milled surface is satisfied.
