Did VDOT do a CCTV inspection of the 48" CMP showing the 2 square cuts called out in the plans? What is the size and condition of the square cuts in the pipe? What type of patch/repair method will be acceptable?

A CCTV inspection was not performed. Re. Description of the cutouts: During the site visit, the inside of Pipe 003 was explored. A 2.1’ x 2.1’ square opening in the top of the pipe was encountered. The opening was covered by one band or an extra band. Downstream of the first square opening a second 1.1’ x 1.1’ cut in the top of the pipe was encountered. This cut was not covered by a band. It was covered by concrete rubble material.

Transportation Management Plan Phase 4 (Plan sheet 1J(30)) Note 2. States “Close RTE 220 New Left NB Turn Lane as shown on Sheet 1J(12) “ but signage is nor shown. Transportation Management Plane Phase 5 (plan sheet 1J(16 )) shows temporary signage on the northbound lane for no U-turn or left turn onto INT’L PKWY but no physical barrier restricting access is shown. Please confirm the median will be closed to left turns onto INT’L PKWY during Phase 4 and Phase 5

The Department will be issuing an addendum to allow for continual lane closures as part of Phases 1 and 2 of the TMP.

Transportation Management Plane Phase 3 (plan sheet 1J(9)), Phase 4 ( plan sheet 1J(12)) and Phase 5 (Plan Sheet 1J(16)) have signage at approximate STA 220+25 for no left turn onto Ashley Way but no physical barrier restricting access to the turn lane is shown. Please confirm the median will be closed to left turns onto Ashley Way upon completion of the U turns in Phase 2.

Subject: MOT Phase 2 RTE 220 SB Type: Plan

Transportation Management Plan (sheet 1J(2) requires the southbound lane to be opened from 6:00 A.M. until 9:00 A.M. M-F. The Typical Sections (sheets 2A(2) and 2A(3)) show a typical saw cut of 2’ into the travel lanes. The south bound inside lane will be under 10’ in width during Phase 2 construction and excavation depth adjacent to pavement will be over 2’. The contract does not include pay items for temporary pavement markings, temporary concrete barrier or signage of reduced lane widths. It is not possible to saw cut and remove the shoulder and two feet of the existing travel lane and safely maintain two travel lanes. South bound inside lane closure will need to be continuous through Phase 2 to perform this work. Please confirm the southbound lane closure shown in Phase 2 will be continuous or advise of what revisions will be made to the MOT plan.

Str. 5-7 to 5-5 calls for 65' of 24" conc. storm sewer pipe in the drainage description. The bid items have this quantity included in the 24" Storm Sewer Pipe. Is this run of pipe required to be concrete pipe or is Storm Sewer Pipe (HDPE) acceptable?

Storm Sewer Pipe (HDPE) is not acceptable. Only concrete pipe is acceptable.
