Subject: 18" sanitary sewer Type: Plan
Question Date: 6/14/2022 11:24:05 AM
The existing sanitary sewer manhole 14-46 appears to be a fragile structure that has been repaired in the past, is this structure sufficient for the tie in with the new 18" ductile iron pipe?
Answer   Date: 6/17/2022 9:45:22 AM
The City will be replacing this manhole and the sewer main upstream of this manhole in the next few years. They suggest the contractor parge the outside of the manhole with concrete for structural enhancement if necessary. They believe a 1” thick concrete parge covering the entire manhole should be sufficient. Most of this manhole is already exposed.

Is the existing 18" sanitary sewer pipe asbestos concrete?
Answer   Date: 6/17/2022 9:46:20 AM
The existing pipe out of manhole 14/46 is concrete. The City’s Engineer does not have any record of it being AC pipe and in his opinion its concrete only, no asbestos.

Subject: 18" sanitary sewer Type: Permits
Question Date: 6/14/2022 10:57:13 AM
As the existing manhole 14-46 is mostly exposed in the ditch line and so is the existing 18" sanitary sewer line will fill material be able to be installed in the current channel to backfill the sanitary sewer items installed with this project?
Answer   Date: 6/17/2022 9:47:10 AM
City does not require fill material to be placed over the new pipe within the stream channel. City allows for exposed pipe to be supported by stream piers, which is depicted on the Stream Bed Anchor detail on sheet 18(2D) of the plans.
