Is nightwork permitted for this project? The specs are not clear on if night work is allowed in this area and additional time will be required due to the limited road closure noted in the addendum.

Night work will be permitted per Limitaion of Operation Special Provision if the Contractor obtains all the necessary permits. The Contractor will be responsible to obtain all necessary permits including but not limited to noise ordinance permit.

Conflicting information has been provided. The VDOT standard specifications defines substructure work. One of the answers states that "All substructure work and other work may be performed within the allowable lane closure hours detailed in the Special Provision for Section 108.02 – Limitation of Operation." How is all substructure work installed without the road closure?

The contractor will be allowed to perform any work that can be done prior and after full road closure per lane closure stated in the Special Provision for limitation of operation.

The Snapshot provided in ASHTOWare shows the Item 630 Disposal of Material was deleted; however, the bid items provided in BidX show the Construction Trailer was deleted. Please update the snapshot provided by ASHTOWare program to show the correct items.

What kind of work we can do before complete road closure? Can we do clearing and grubbing with partial lane closure? setting pipe, cofferdam, etc. OR We will have to do all after complete road closure?

As a precast supplier, provided we have a contract/PO by the beginning of April 2022 and shop drawings are reviewed and returned in a timely manner, mid summer erection date are reasonable.

Due to COVID-19 and now with the bid date extended further out, Precasters are excluding liability for meeting certain deadlines for having all precast structures ready in order to meet the Completion date of September 02, 2022. Therefore, can the Department allow a minim of 60-day full road closure to allow for completion of the project?

No. The bridge is to be replaced Accelerated Bridge Construction Method and is not expected to take more than 30 days. Road closure shall be planned around the time the precast elements are expected to be at the site.

There is a section noting the Modified Double Seal is to be installed on top of the Asphalt, but the plans do not show the limits. Are we to follow the asphalt limits on sheet 3?

Yes, the limits of the Modified Double Seal shall match the limits of the Proposed Asphalt as shown on Sheet 3.

#510: Architectural Treatment Railing: Per drawings on sheet 21 of 25, the terminal wall shall receive this treatment but the quantity does not appear to be included in the line item (Under stated quantity). Please confirm where we are to account for the terminal wall treatment.

Item #520: Railing SPSR 2 Rail. The bid items show a quantity of 144 LF, however, the bridge is only 42' long. Where is the additional LF to be installed?

The railing quantity for the superstructure is 84 LF. Terminal walls are categorized as a substructure payment (see plan sheet 20 “Elevation”), and the quantity is 60 LF. The total is 144 LF.
