Do you have existing flow rate data for the 48" combined sanitary storm sewer pipe that is being tied into? Are there special pump around requirements by the City of Richmond?

Existing Sanitary Flow Rate: Flow information is not available. Special Pump Around Requirements: Note S8 on sheet 4(1) “Should the Contractor find it necessary to take measures to limit the amount of flow entering the existing manhole to be reconstructed (I.E. temporary plugs, bypass pumping, pump and haul, etc.) those measures must be approved, in advance by Richmond D.P.U. and the engineer. All cost associated with such measures shall be included in the utility price bid for the sanitary sewer manhole reconstruction.

The job duration is 9 months but there is an 8 month lead time on the signal poles. This will definitely affect the completion time for this project.

During the MOT phases of constructing the additional lane on the off-ramp the existing poles / arms will be used for temporary signals. The new signal poles are not needed to be installed until near the completion of the project. Please plan accordingly

Please confirm that the City of Richmond will be responsible for providing all signal timings for all phases of construction and the permanent configuration.

Yes, please coordinate with the City of Richmond (Michael Sawyer, 804-646-3435 and Enrique Burgos, (804) 646-6337) to obtain the latest signal timing for both MOT and permanent signal.

The Special Provisions for Permanent Soil Nail Slopes refers to a Major Structure Data Report which includes boring logs and soil data. I do not see a copy of the MSDR. Can this be made available?

To clarify, if the nail length needs to be longer than 15 feet to achieve the requirements, that is to be determined by the contractor and is acceptable?

The contractor may submit soil nails longer than 15 ft, the Engineer will approve or reject within 15 calendar days after a completed submission is received.

The report mentions a design capacity of the nails of 5 kips per lineal foot and a maximum nail length of 15 feet. That would be an overall capacity of 75 kips. The bars tensile capacity is 76 kips. Can the nail length can be increased?

The parameters within the report were assumptions to examine soil nail slope feasibility, please reference contract special provision for permanent soil nail slopes in regards to soil nail requirements.

Plan sheets 1G(5)-1G(9) detail temporary traffic signals for this project. Plan sheet 1G(5) details section 512.03 is to be followed. Section 512.03 provides detail for "Modify Signal" which is taking place on this project. The Contractor is responsible for modify the signal as well as maintaining the equipment throughout the project. Please review, a pay item for Modify signal should be provided for each of the impacted intersections.

Due to installing new video this will require modifying existing controller at the ramp, how will this be paid? Has VDOT verified that the existing controller will accept another video system? Does the contractor need to match the existing video?

A line item will be added for Modify Existing Controller Cabinet with a unit of 'Each' and a quantity of eight (8) for both the temporary signals and permanent signals at all locations. The City has a hybrid video detection system in the cabinet at the signal at 15th St and Franklin St and both Iteris and AutoScope detectors are used. The new camera should be compatible to existing controller (ECONOLITE ASC/3-2100) and existing camera hardware from AutoScope.

According to the plans we are removing signal poles. Should there be a remove foundation line item or will this be included in other items?
