Pay item 68490; Disposal of Material Str. No. 6084 Ty B. We would like to have existing bridge information. I believe Ty B refer to Lead contain material and dispose as accordingly. Please provide more information.

Structure is classified as a Type B structure which may have existing coatings contain hazardous materials. Pay Item 68490 is intended for disposal of any hazardous materials. See section 411 of Specifications for descriptions. Existing bridge plans do not exist.

There is a pay item for Temporary Bridge and shown in the contract proposal page 147&149 but not much in detail. What is VDOT expectation/intent to have temporary work bridge. Demolition middle pier? Also demolition of middle pier how deep we need to remove the existing pier? Please provide specific information.Not much information about bridge abutments reconstruction. Please provide all details information.

Intent for temporary work bridge is for removing existing pier. Pier shall be removed a minimum of 1' below steam bed. Its at the contractors discretion of how temporary bridge will be constructed. Abutment footings and wingwalls shall be designed by contractor specific to the precast structure that will be used. Foundation elevations and geology findings are provided in plans for design purposes. VDOT isn't allowed to call out specific manufacturer of precast structure so footings and wingwalls will need to be designed per manufacturers dimensions and design calculations of structure.
