On sheet 2 in the general notes it states all steel repairs occurring in Fracture Critical Areas must conform to the AASHTO Fracture Control Plan. No local AISC shops have this endorsement. As long as the material and its fabrication conforms to FCP guidelines will VDOT waive the FCP endorsement requirement?

Plan sheet 13 of 15 indicates the limits of the removal of the curb. In regards to this: 1) where there is not a drain area does the removal go full depth to the top of the deck? 2) Where the curb is completely deteriorated how is the full width replacement paid for?

1) As shown in the plans, the removal of the curb at the posts was not intended to go down to the top of slab. 2) The full width of the curb is not intended to be replaced.

SIP forms are allowed for decking in Spans 2 and 3. The design load includes 20 psf allowances for construction tolerances and construction methods.

The intent is for the existing platform to remain in place. If repairs described in the plan set cannot be accomplished with the platform in place, the contractor shall remove and re-install in kind after said work is complete.
