Depending on the location, either the lens or the lens and casting shall be removed. If the casting is removed, the resultant hole shall be backfilled to the level of the adjacent pavement surface with a traffic-bearing material from the statewide Pre-Approved List.

The specification states the following shall be included in the pricing:accessible pedestrian
pushbutton with integrated speakers, vibrating arrows, wiring, fittings, signs, accessible
information (Braille, raised letters or raised diagrammatic maps), testing, adjustment and
alignment, and warranty; mounting hardware, and when required, pole, caps, breakaway support systems, handhole and cover, conduit, condulet, supplementary grounding electrode, grounding, conductor, and concrete foundation. Is this correct? if so, what size pole, support system and foundation should be considered for bidding purposes?

The "when required" in the specification refers to standard PA-3 installations only. These shall be installed in accordance with the PA-3 standard (1307.11). The structure to which actuation is affixed when installing a standard PA-2 will be paid for separately, generally with a PF-2 Pedestal Pole (Item 51210 or 51212) mounted on a PF-2 Concrete Foundation (Item 51240). An MP-3 on PF-8 will never be considered incidental to the PA-2 installation. No PA-4 installations will occur with the contract.

How will the contractor be compensated should the department not fulfill this obligation?

In the Special Provision VERIFYING EXISTING UTILITIES AND INSTALLING GUARDRAIL POSTS, it states the contractor shall be required to hand dig guardrail posts. Will the contract include guardrail installation? If so, will the contractor be required to be guardrail certified?

There is a 10% DBE percentage requirement on this project. This will be extremely difficult to for a non- DBE prime to meet. With the type of construction that signal work requires, it will be difficult to find enough line items that could be subcontracted to achieve the 10%. Can this 10% be lowered ?

The narrative lists the counties where work will be. As Essex, King And Queen, Lancaster, Middlesex,Northampton, Richmond and Westmoreland Counties, Accomack and Northumberland Counties and King George wage rates do not list an Electrician (includes traffic signalization), is the bidder to assume there will be no actual signalization work in those counties?

The project description states the scope of work will also include ADA ramps and sidewalk repairs. There is not a pay item for Type 3 channelizing devices used for a sidewalk closure. How does the Department intent to pay for Ty 3 barricades?
