Question
Date:

Since the light poles can take 14-16 weeks (maybe more) for delivery after materials have been approved. Does the department have a plan to expedite the approval process & how will this be handled as far as charging liquidated damages? If light poles are not ordered until July 1st the poles may not arrive until the week of October 14th. This only leaves 3 weeks to complete construction.

Per section 105.03 of VDOT Road & Bridge Specifications there is 30 calendar days submittal review requirement but the Department will do every effort to finish review in lesser time after the completeness of the submittal is confirmed. Liquidated damages will apply per specification.

The Schedule of Items includes a Non-Standard pay item 59000 (Proposal Line Number 770 - Each for the LED Luminaire Arm 8’). This price shall include installation and LED luminaire with arm. For additional information for the LED luminaire see plan sheet 7(2A) and plan sheet 7(2B). (i.e. Max. Wattage, Min. Lumen and BUG rating).
Question
Date:

There is a conflict between the pole details and luminaire details. The pole details show a 30 ft mounting height for the luminaires, while the luminaire details state a 40 ft mounting height. For a 260W fixture, the 40 ft height seems more applicable. Please advise.
Answer
Date:
4/19/2019 3:18:25 PM
The 30 ft. for the luminaire mounting height from parking lot surface to the center of the luminaire on plan sheet 7(2A) is correct. The information on the plan Sheet 7(2B) referenced to 260 Watts luminaires is just an additional information for reviewing / approving the Isofoot Candle Diagram and catalog cut sheets during the construction.
