Subject: Modified Single Seal Type: Proposal
Question Date: 10/19/2018 9:50:37 AM
The Schedule Notes at the end of the proposal and the route summary on page 92 state that "No Blot coat is required for the Modified Single Seal". However, the sheets that detail the individual routes state the Modified Single Seal consists of "CRS-2L, No. 8P aggregate, and No. 9 aggregate blot coat". This is a contradiction in spec. What does VDOT want for their Surface Treatment prior to the Slurry Seal?

Subject: Bridge Limits Type: Proposal
Question Date: 10/18/2018 2:38:35 PM
Under CN 107.21(d) Construction Loading of Structures, it is very difficult to review the many routes in the proposal for low limit bridges. The equipment used in this process is large and even empty, it cannot cross the lower limit bridges. If an impassible bridge is encountered, it would be cost prohibitive to shore up the bridge for crossing. Would it be possible to include all routes with bridge weight restrictions in the proposal? If impassable bridges are located, VDOT could be make contract adjustments.
Answer   Date: 10/19/2018 4:13:20 PM
A current list of Structures on all Virginia Highways (State-Owned and Others) Posted with Weight Restrictions is available on the following site; http://www.virginiadot.org/info/trucking-main.asp under the "Weight, height and width restrictions" section. This list should be used to its full extent to plan the prosecution of work accordingly. In the event the Restrictions are modified, between Bid Submission and the completion of the work, the Contractor may notify the Engineer and when confirmed could be entitled to the conditions of Section 104.02(b) Significant Changes in the Character of Work of the Road and Bridge Specifications.
