According to the typical section in the proposal the shoulder width to be done is between 2' and 4'. In the areas where 2' is utilized, (some areas this is going to put the edge of the shoulder right at the face of existing guardrail,) is the rumble strip going to be eliminated? The machine requires at least 36" to be able to cut the strips, and even at that there are places that is not enough room. Also the specs require a minimum of 4' for rumble strips to be applied. The proposal does not show at this time that the strips are to be eliminated on any of the shoulder to be placed.

It is intended that shoulder paving, rumble strips and rumble stripes will be placed at all feasible locations . In locations where field conditions, existing guardrail, or other obstructions do not make it feasible to install the aforementioned, the Engineer may eliminate the work item. Guardrail removal and reinstallation is not included in this proposal.
