Sheet 8 of 49 says Contractor shall perform Horizontal Pull Test that meets or exceeds the strength of the Adhesive Product. What is the minimum Adhesive Strength we must meet and what method/procedure will VDOT accept for the Pull Test?

The Department allows various approved materials for this operation. Therefore the contractor shall be guided by the manufacturers recommendation. Furthermore the test method shall be submitted for review and approval by the Department as noted in the plans.

Sheet 1G(1) Note 5).A) States the contractor shall be subject to hourly fines for lanes needing to be shut down during the time period between 6AM and 9PM. However, I cannot find in the contract documents what these hourly fines will be. Could you please indicate what the fines for lane closures will be?

Phase I Construction requires significant paving/widening on I-81. With the delay in the advertisement date of two months, this work would now be started in the winter months. Asphalt plants in this area are typically closed down until early spring (April 1). With that, will the completion date be extended to represent this delay?

A new bid item was created, “Flexible Pavement Planing (Variable Depth),” for milling along I-81. Temporary pavement is included in the quantities for each asphalt course.

What type of CRR reinforcing steel is to be used for the Existing Pier Modifications ? The plan calls out 4,820 lbs. reinforcing steel.

In accordance with the General Notes on Bridge Plan Sheet 1 of 49, all reinforcing shall be deformed and shall conform to ASTM A615 Grade 60 except for steels noted as Corrosion Resistant Reinforcing (CRR). Pier Modification reinforcing steel is not noted as CRR.
