Specifications call for milling the joints 16" wide, however standard available rollers widths are a minimum 24" wide. How does the Department suggest that the minimum compaction be obtained?

Means and method of compaction are the responsibility of the contractor.

Taking into consideration the volume of joint repairs and the profile deviations that will result from those repairs, the existing pavement deviations, and the warranty requirement for delamination of THMACO materials, will the Department add a 0"-2" milling item for the mainline pavement so that the contractor will have a reasonable opportunity to achieve the rideability as required by the specifications?

Subject: THMACO Placement Type: Proposal

Per the THMACO Special Provision, there are two options for placing the tack coat. Option #1 requires a spray bar paver to be used, Option #2 allows for a mechanical distributor or spray bar paver. Will Option #1 be the only option allowed for this project?

Placement of the THMACO and tack shall be with a Spray Bar Paver as noted in the contract.
