Certain work activities will require travel on I-66. Will VDOT waive the I-66 toll fees for work associated with this project or will bidders need to carry toll costs in their bids?

The project footprint is completely outside I-66, tolling occurs when lane closures are not allowed. No exemption from tolling will be given.

Addendum #3 added a pay item for 2,001 CY of Borrow Excavation. Based upon the cross sections provided, there seems to be an excess of materials. Are the existing materials, identified for excavation unsuitable for fills? Can the Department provide a Grading Summary?

Please confirm that the Borrow Excavation pay item will compensate the replacement of trench spoils from storm drainage and water main that are not part of the pipe bedding standards or pavement section and for backfill materials excavated for structural excavation at the bridge and walls.

The borrow excavation will not compensate for the storm drain or water main trenches, walls or bridges. There are separate quantities for the structure work. The utility work is incidental to each utility.

Addendum #3 includes a new Special Provision page 277, which discusses ground mounted (18-Inch driven depth) and MB-11A mounted safety fence, but does not address temporary safety fence anchored to pavement, as is shown on many of the Suggested Sequence of Construction Plan Sheets. Will pavement anchored safety fence also be paid under Pay Item 0630-25560?

The answer is yes. Temporary Safety Fence shall be in accordance with Section 507 and the SPCN as submitted. The price shall include anchoring to pavement as necessary.

The bridge plans depict curved walls made up of various radii, made more complex by the tapered wall thicknesses. Will chorded formwork having a width of 48-Inches be permissible for the exposed faces of the longer radius elements (ie. Wall 1 - Zone 3B, Wall 2 - Zone 8 and Wall 3)? Will chord widths of 12-Inches be permissible for the exposed faces of the tighter radii (ie. Wall 1 - Zone 2B and Wall 2 - Zone 7)?

No, the pavement marking are paid per each message-not each character and the Route 29 is included in the proposal line item 2200-704, Item ID Description 54261- 10EA

Plan Sheets 9O and 9Q each discuss the fence post material coating, however two coatings are referenced. The Short Post General Notes and the Tall Post General Notes both include a bullet reading Finish: Stainless Steel with clear Lacquer Coating Use 11655 3.9 Clear Lacquer RFU and another bullet reading ...to ensure total coverage of Powder Coating. Please confirm that no Powder Coating is required.

The short and tall fence posts shall be stainless steel with clear lacquer coating. Use 11655 3.9 clear lacquer RFU. There is no powder coating. Notes on sheet 9O and 9Q will be revised in forthcoming addendum 3.

The plans for the proposed Tall and Short Fence do not include the Electrical Continuity Detail (from VDOT Standard Plan Sheet BFP-5). Please confirm that this detail will not be a requirement as the proposed fence will not be vinyl coated.

Ground rod and electrode conductor will be required. The special provision for Pedestrian short and tall fence will be revised in forthcoming addendum 3.
