Girder numbers 3 thru 9 are Precast I-girders (typical) as noted in the Typical Half Section. Section A-A shows dimensions of the Precast I-girders only. ~~~ 2.) A single layer of bi-directional fabric may be used if it can be shown by test data to provide the equivalent strength in both directions as the two single layers specified.

Post Tension Pre-Production Approvals
Type:

Question
Date:
10/19/2017 10:51:03 AM
Section II – “Submittals and Hold Points” of the Supplemental Post-Tensioned Structure and Bridge Construction Quality Assurance Special Provision details different Pre-Production Approvals in part 4. Item C of part 4 describes the Mock-Up Approval. The Department must be notified 60 CD prior to performing the Mock-Up tests. Various components of the Mock-Up must be submitted and approved (Grout, Tendon Installation and Stressing Plan, Duct Filling Plan, etc.) as well as a Mock-Up Plan prior to constructing or testing the Mock-Up. The spec states that once the Mock-Up test is approved no post tension work shall be performed until a hold period of 60 days is complete. With all of the various submittals requiring approval prior to performing the Mock-Up test, including the Duct Filling Plan, what is the intent of the 60 day hold period for tendon filling after the approval of the Mock-Up?
Answer
Date:
10/20/2017 2:59:59 PM
A 60 day hold period starts at the conclusion of the duct filling operation associated with the Mock-Up Test. This time is necessary to cure, test and evaluate grout and flexible filler specimens used during the test and for forensic analysis and problem solving if understrength grout is discovered. After evaluation and acceptance of the filler materials, final approval of the Mock-Up Test will be granted and authorization given to begin production tendon filling.

Time of Year Restriction
Type:
Proposal
Question
Date:
10/18/2017 4:27:58 PM
Special Provision "Protection of Colonial Nesting Birds" restricts activities during a Time of Year Restriction for activities on the South Island only. Special Provision "Mock-Up Testing" references this Time of Year Restriction for picking up the beams from the South Island also. Neither special provision precludes work on the bridge during the Time of Year Restriction yet it was mentioned during the pre-bid meeting that construction activities within the bridge limits shall only be allowed between March 15th and October 31st. It appears that the contract does not contain this Time of Year stipulation. Please advise.
