Subject: Curb Removal Type: Proposal
Question Date: 6/23/2017 10:07:13 AM
A project inspection revealed the presence of standup concrete curb within the proposed trenching limits. Will the department be adding a concrete curb removal item?
Answer   Date: 6/23/2017 2:45:23 PM
The curb referred to in this question would appear to be the one on the left shoulder of 29NBL near the southern end of the project. If this is true the the Pavement Widening Schedule on Page 133 of the Proposal advises the Bidders that widening on the left side of 29 NBL does not begin until MP 24.69 which is 1.11 miles into the project at the northern end of this curb.

Subject: Widening Widths Type: Proposal
Question Date: 6/23/2017 10:04:24 AM
Pages 108 thru 139 list widening widths of 3.5’ and 4.5’. Is it the department’s intention to use these nonstandard milling drum widths? Industry standards are 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7 width cutting heads.
Answer   Date: 6/26/2017 3:57:47 PM
Widening widths currently shown as 3.5’ and 4.5’ will be revised to 4’ and 5’ respectively to match the available standard milling drum widths. The additional 6” width will be removed from inside the edge line of the existing pavement. An addendum for this change will be forthcoming to revise to the typical sections, pavement widening schedule, summary of estimated quantities and bid quantities accordingly.

Question Date: 8/4/2017 11:24:18 AM
When will the addendum be coming out?
Answer   Date: 8/4/2017 1:48:30 PM

Page 108 Typical Section sheet calls for RS-1& RS-6. Page 109 Typical Section sheet calls for RS-1 & RS-5. Which is correct?
Answer   Date: 6/26/2017 4:01:21 PM
Both typical section sheets are correct as shown. • The first typical sheet is specifically for the outside shoulder, in which the RS-1 standard is to be used in limited access sections and the RS-6 standard for non-limited access sections. • The second sheet is specifically for the median shoulder, in which the RS-1 standard is to be used for limited access sections and the RS-5 standard for non-limited access sections.

Question Date: 6/23/2017 10:02:09 AM
This project is missing Type F temporary pavement line markings. Given the length and duration of the project, temporary markings seem appropriate for the traveling public’s safety and protection of the final pavement markings during rumble strip installation. Will the department add Type F?
Answer   Date: 6/26/2017 3:59:27 PM
Type F temporary pavement markings will not be added. However, in accordance with Section 512 of the 2016 Specifications, 87,082 LF of Temp. Pvmt Mrkg, TY. A, 6” (Item No. 54430) will be added by addendum.
