Question
Date:

On page 160 of the proposal under Bridge General Notes #6; it reference Section 411.05(b)1 and (b) 4. We do not think this is correct; should it be (c) instead of (b); please clarify. With that being said; what is the extent(limits) of coating(painting) required at the repair areas. Is it intended that these areas be cleaned by hand tools or some other method and then painted? What method of cleaning and painting is required? Is it intended to blast clean or hand tool clean and paint only the areas of the repairs? It appears that the coating on the entire bridge is in poor condition; please verify that it the intent is to only paint the repair areas. Does the existing coating on this bridge contain lead or any other hazardous material and how will this be handled?

The Temporary Traffic Control Plan outlined on page 155 of the Proposal seems to suggest intermittent closures(detour) of the traffic across the Bridge; even suggesting removal prior to holidays etc. There really does not appear to be any restrictions as it relates to the time or duration of the detour. Please confirm that the Contractor can detour the bridge traffic continuously 24 hours per day for the time it takes to execute the work or duration of the contract and that traffic will not have to restored any time in between. Please advise
