Answer   Date: 6/9/2016 4:04:21 PM

Subject: Mabey Bridge Type: Plan
Question Date: 6/9/2016 8:38:53 AM
Please verify that the additional 40’ section of bailey bridge is 1) an interior panel section with double top and bottom chords, or 2) chord members of the provided 40’ Bailey Bridge can be swapped (no modifications allowed) into the male or female existing end panels to create a double member top and bottom chord. Otherwise, it appears that the additional 40’ panels may need to be inserted as an interior panel and not simply attached as an end panel.
Answer   Date: 6/10/2016 9:46:20 AM
The existing temporary structure consists of an 80 ft Mabey C-200 modular bridge system with six bays of standard panels and a single bay of high shear panels at each end. There are reinforcing chords top and bottom at each bay except the end bays. The available stock of compatible temporary bridge components consists of two bays of high shear panels and two bays of standard panels with sufficient top and bottom chord reinforcement for four bays as well as the transom beams, floor panels and associated hardware. The reinforcing chord is interchangeable between high shear and standard panels. Extending the current 80 ft bridge to a 120 ft span, if necessary, will require disassembly of the two existing end bays and reassembly to incorporate two bays of high shear panels at each end with chord reinforcement at every panel except the end panels as indicated in the working drawings for the 120 ft span. The available stock also includes four rocking rollers and six plain rollers for a crane assisted launch.

Subject: Early Completion Incentive Disincentive Type: Proposal
Question Date: 5/24/2016 3:33:18 PM
Contract completion date is July 25, 2017 with a Disincentive of $1,500 plus LD of $600 per day. Verizon apparently has utilities in the way of construction and the SP indicates they will not be completed until July 25, 2017 the same date as the project completion. Please clarify how the project is expected to be completed prior to the completion of the utility relocation work.
Answer   Date: 5/31/2016 3:58:19 PM
The Verizon utilities will be complete by approximately June 17, 2016 and are not expected to impact the contractor.

Subject: Tree Removal Restriction Type: Proposal
Question Date: 5/24/2016 3:19:58 PM
Project has an Interim Completion Date of 11/1/16 for the detour bridge construction. No work on the detour can start until September 16, 2016 due to the Tree Removal SP which effectively allows only 45 days which seems extremely aggressive. Will the Department consider revising this date to allow more time.
Answer   Date: 6/1/2016 1:11:31 PM
VDOT has removed these trees in advance of the contract.

Subject: Temporary Mabey Bridge As Built Details Type: Plan
Question Date: 5/24/2016 2:56:36 PM
Will the Department post the existing Mabey Bridge specifications, bridge details, panel weights, bearing details, and substructure details or provide POC for obtaining. These are required to figure erection cost, bridge weights, and demolition cost for the bid preparation.
Answer   Date: 6/2/2016 7:20:30 AM
