Could you tell us how deep the Asphalt Plug Joint will be. The quantity for Furnish Plug Joint is 153 Cubic Feet. The quantity for Place Asphalt Plug Joint is 92 LF. At 20" wide, the joint would have to be 12" deep to use all that material. The SP calls for no less than 2".

The existing joint was completed many years ago and no plans on this repair could be located, the depth is unknown but was believed to be no more than 12”deep therefore the qty was based on worst case scenario.

This Project Bids May 25, 2016. The earliest a contractor would be able to start on the project would be approx late July / early August. The contractor would mobilize, mill, and patch all structures. The 28 day clock would be on the patches for cure time. The earliest epoxy application would be late September. Late September is not a good time to start epoxy work. If all bridges were milled and patched before the winter, then epoxied in May June and July of 2017, all of the milled/patched structures would be susceptible to the elements the entire winter. Would Vdot entertain extending this contract to end December 2017 to make this a one season project?
