In the proposal, the quantities for the cleaning and washing of the superstructure is 145,000 square yards, but when you add all of the bridges up in the bidding documents it is over 1.2 million square yards. Is the quantities of 145,000 incorrect or is the contractor not going to clean all of the bridges on the list?

The contract is setup to perform 145,000 SY of bridge cleaning and washing per term. The contractor will be directed by VDOT as to what structures will make up the 145,000 SY to be cleaned/washed each term. VDOT intends to keep the structures in the same regional area, but reserves the right to choose any structures from the list included in the NPA (1.2 mil SY referenced in question).

Can you clarify what each term is? Is this a multi year bid? Is the engineers project estimate of $500,000.00, for each term, or is it for the entire 1.2 million square yards?

Please note Special Provision for Renewable On Call Contract General Provisions found on page 105 of the contract for clarification on term definition. This contract is setup up as a one (1) year term contract, with two (2) one (1) year renewal terms. The Engineer’s project estimate is based on the cost of the initial term of which is based on a term quantity of 145,000 SY.

Please provide a copy of the "Special Provision for Bridge Cleaning Service (July 24, 1995)" Referenced on page 114 of the proposal

Said reference on p. 114 is: “Bridge Superstructure Cleaning and Washing shall be done in accordance with the Special Provision for Bridge Cleaning Service (July 24, 1995). The Bridge Superstructure Cleaning and Washing shall consist of cleaning and washing in accordance with the limits detailed above.” The Special Provision is on pp. 109 – 110.
