The VDOT provided sign posts are metal. Question
Date:

Notes on Plan Sheet 7 of 18 state the stay in place decking cannot be welded to the stringers and the deck overhangs must be formed in the field. Given the extremely tight time limit on this project and the extremely limited work area between the exterior stringer and truss, we ask if the plans and shop drawings can be amended to include full width deck pans plug welded to the stringers with full length edge dams welded to both sides of the bridge flooring.
Answer

The truss is designed to be composite with the floor beams. Shear stud connectors will be attached to the floor beams in the shop. The truss fabricator/vendor will provide stay-in-place metal decking needed to place the concrete deck between stringers using support angles and straps. Please note that welding of stay-in-place metal decking or angle supports to stringers or floor beams will not be permitted. We would encourage Contractors to discuss forming deck overhangs, deck placements and screed set ups on truss superstructures with U.S. Bridge or other fabricators/vendors of similar systems.
