Will the VDOT project anodes need to be tied in to the City of Hampton's new Cathodic protection system ? Will conductivity need to be tested on both walls

The VDOT sheet pile wall cathodic protection system does not need to be connected to the City of Hampton cathodic protection system in order to function properly. Testing to ensure the CP system is working properly on the VDOT sheet pile wall is required.

There is no line item for the removal of sandbags for the tie in to the City of Hampton's sheet pile wall on the Coliseum lake retrofit project. Are all contractors aware that new wetlands will be planted adjacent to the VDOT work area and that removal of sandbags and tie in to the new City of Hampton Sheet pile wall be required in this project ?

Contractors are responsible for coordinating construction efforts with all authorities having jurisdiction. Should the future wall proposed by the city of Hampton be constructed prior to the VDOT wall, consideration to adjusting contractor compensation will be given for any additional construction activities required.

If the City of Hampton's Coliseum lake project delays the start of this project. Will the contractor be compensated for an increase in cost of materials due to this delay. particularly the steel sheet piles.

Work on both projects may be done simultaneously and VDOT will help with coordinating construction activities with the City of Hampton. Consideration of adjustments to contractor compensation will be given to any unavoidable delays should they occur.

The City of Hampton has a current project that will limit access to the job site( Coliseum Lake retrofit). Will this project begin after the City of Hampton project ? Will additional lane closures or additional measures of access be permitted to off set the lack of access from the City of Hampton's project.

The projects may begin simultaneously. Coordination with authorities having jurisdiction will be necessary to ensure timely completion of construction activities. Consideration will be given to any scheduling conflicts that may arise

Will Contractors be permitted to use a portion of the Hampton Coliseum parking lot for a laydown area and construction access?

As per the Construction Access general note on sheet 2, Contractors will be paid a Lump Sum for Construction Access, this includes “. . . coordination with jurisdictions having authority . . .”, thus Contractors will need to independently coordinate with the Hampton Coliseum in order to use their parking lot as a laydown area and for construction access.

Will ASTM A588 steel be acceptable for the cover plates? ASTM A690 steel plate is not commercially available.

A690 steel plates are commercially available and are required for use as sheet pile cover plates designated for this project. A588 steel is not an acceptable alternative to A690 steel for this project.

Cover plate detail shown on plan sheet 8 of 18 does not meet the highest section modulus requirement shown for Type 1 and Type 4 on same plan sheet. PZC26 w/1.5625" x 3.5" plate achieves 83 in3/ft. Will the cover plate detail shown be accepted or does the 89 in3/ft requirement need to be met?

The cover plate detail will be revised to meet the 89 in^3/ft minimum section modulus requirement.

Rev Letter states that revised plans 3, 6, 7 & 8 are available for download on the Falcon site. We do not see any revised plans. All are currently dated 3/16/15. When will the revised plans be available?

On sheet 18(A) MOT Notes, it states the lane use/restrictions for 1 lane open, 1 lane closed to be November - April. Is this correct? If so, is there any variance on the start month?

Yes, this is correct. All work requiring a “long-term” full-lane closure cannot begin until November 1st, 2015 and must be finished by March 31st, 2016. All other work can be started before then.
