Per the schedule notes, "latex is to be placed along the travel lanes between the edge lines." The contract also calls for the existing edge lines to be removed and replaced. Please clarify.
Answer   Date: 12/10/2014 3:24:33 PM
The existing edge lines are to be eradicated, then the Latex Modified Emulsion and/or Fiber reinforced surface treatment is to placed 6 inches to the outside of the edge lines. The new edge lines are to be placed back at previous/existing locations. VDOT Richmond District does not want any Latex Modified Emulsion and/or Fiber reinforced surface treatment to be placed on paved shoulders, except as described above for the edge lines.

Question Date: 11/24/2014 12:00:37 PM
In the schedule notes, patching method is listed as a "milling or leveling/scratch" to be determined by the engineer. Does VDOT feel a IM-19.0A is a suitable mix for leveling? What will be the criteria for choosing between milling and leveling/scratch?
Answer   Date: 12/10/2014 3:25:34 PM
The Schedule Note for method of patching was copied from the SS-4A-15 schedule and was unfortunately not re-written as intended for the LM-4A-15 schedule. The method of patching intended for the LM-4A-15 schedule is milling the existing asphalt pavement distress (16515 - NS FLEXIBLE PAVE. PLANING Planing 2"-4" (PATCH)) and patching with hot-mix asphalt (16325 - NS ASPHALT CONCRETE IM-19.0A (PATCH)). VDOT Richmond District does not want any leveling/scratch to be performed as part of the LM-4A-15 schedule.
