Subject: Stages & Limiitations of Work Type: Plan
Question Date: 9/15/2014 1:51:12 PM
Plan Sheet 1K(1) states in note 10 that each phase and/or stage of work shall be completed up thru IM paving prior to starting the next phase/stage. Plan Sheet 1K(2) in the first note under Stage Construction appears to conflict with Note # 10 on 1K(1). Please clarify the intent of what work can be concurrent versus non-concurrent.
Answer   Date: 9/18/2014 9:37:31 AM
The first note on Sheet 1K(2) allows the contractor to work multiple locations with multiple crews if desired. However the intent of the note on Sheet 1K(1) is that once any open trenching starts across a roadway at a specific location, the contractor shall complete that work up thru the IM paving layer prior to opening the roadway to traffic or leaving that work zone to start on another section.
