Subject: Temporary Causeway Working Drawings Type: Proposal
Question Date: 9/9/2014 9:16:34 AM
Page 201 of the proposal references working drawings for the temporary causeway that will need to be submitted to the Department for review. Will these working drawings need to be stamped by a Professional Engineer?
Answer   Date: 9/9/2014 9:46:01 AM
YES

Subject: Shear Studs Type: Plan
Question Date: 9/9/2014 9:14:05 AM
On sheet 8 of 18 of the bridge plans, it shows the spacing of the shear studs in the "stringer details." The detail shows 4 rows of shear studs on a 6" spacing at each end of the W12 stringers. If this is the case, the last shear stud would be 1'10" from each end of the beam and the remaining 109'11" of beam would have no shear studs. Is this the intent?
Answer   Date: 9/9/2014 2:38:34 PM
The Stringer Details on Bridge Sheet 8 of 18 is drafted to show the minimum stud requirements to secure the deck down at either end of the bridge. This assumes the truss fabricator will design each bays superstructure/deck connection to be “non-continuous”. If the fabricator requests to create a “continuous” condition for each bay, additional stud connectors will be required and should be detailed in the fabricators shop drawings.

Subject: Temporary Causeway Type: Proposal
Question Date: 9/3/2014 2:20:44 PM
The temporary causeway as shown in the proposal has 24" diameter pipes noted in the sketch. Would larger diameter pipe be permissible provided an equivalent or larger opening is provided as shown in the permit?
Answer   Date: 9/5/2014 11:25:19 AM
The larger diameter pipe is hydraulically permissible assuming the same or greater opening, but the contractor will need to provide at least 2’ of cover from the top of pipe to the causeway surface. This increase will affect the permit sketch quantities and require the contractor to submit an update.

Subject: Wash Racks Type: Plan
Question Date: 9/3/2014 2:18:36 PM
On sheet 3C of the plans, it notes wash racks are required at each of the temporary construction entrances. Are wash racks going to be required on this rural project?
Answer   Date: 9/8/2014 3:30:42 PM
It is the contractors responsibility ensure sediment is not tracked outside the jobsite. The number and location of wash racks may be adjusted accordingly to meet this intent.
