3M Temporary Tape

Bid Sheet
Question

Regarding Bid items 54512, 54516, 54520.This temporary tape listed for these 3 lines shows Class II but I belive it should be Class III. I have attached the "Directive" from VDOT below. Please advise. Directive Effective immediately upon issuance of this directive, VDOT is migrating to solely using Type D-Class III tape for any projects in design phase and requiring the use of temporary tape markings as part of the MOT Plan. This is being done to improve work zone safety and help combat the troubling recent increase in work zone crashes. VDOT staff - Please share this directive with internal staff and consultant engineers responsible for the development of MOT plans for VDOT projects. This directive does not change the engineer’s decision-making process to decide whether to specify Type A, Type B, or Type D for the temporary pavement markings. However, if the decision is made to use Type D temporary tape, then D-III tape shall be specified. CO-TED is working to develop improved policies/best practices for determination of appropriate temporary marking type.
