Alternative temporary cross-over pavement designs may be submitted for review and potential approval by the Department. In terms of rigid (concrete) versus flexible (asphalt) alternatives, either pavement type will be permissible as this project includes temporary cross-overs that are intended to be removed at project completion. If cross-overs are intended to be considered for being left in-place, the Department will only accept flexible pavement types for permanent installation in order to match the maintenance needs of adjacent pavement sections in the area.
