Sheet 9 of the plan set details minimum shoring requirements and 24" diameter rock sockets, per the special provision the temporary shoring requires design by a P.E. If the design requires a something other than shown, i.e. different sized rock socket, will this be acceptable to the department?

The design shown in the plans is a minimum requirement that was included for bidding purposes and to ensure bidders are aware of probable rock sockets. Alternative shoring designs proposed by the Contractor shall be designed by a professional engineer licensed in the state of Virginia and approved by the Engineer (Department).	7/20/2020
The design shown in the plans is a minimum requirement that was included for bidding purposes and to ensure that bidders were aware of a probable requirement of rock sockets. Any alternative shoring designs shall be approved by The Engineer.	7/20/2020
