Sheet 1H(1A) indicates that Stage I widening the outside shoulder of the SBL is to be performed under short term closure which are defined as 9:00 PM- 6:00AM. This work involves installing temporary traffic control, removing existing guardrail, milling pavement, excavating to subgrade, placing 6” of No. 21B, placing two - 3” lifts of BM-25.0A followed by 2” of SM-12.5E, installing temporary barrier, and removing temporary traffic before reopening the lane. Also note, that each lift of asphalt must cool prior to placing next lift. This amount of work is not possible to perform in 9 hours as it will require several days to complete. Will longer closures be allowed? If so, how long?
